My friends,

On this wonderful occasion, I bring you the prayers and best wishes of all your brothers and sisters in the Catholic community of Los Angeles. Together with you, we ask that God’s blessings be upon this historic temple and upon this congregation — and upon all the people you serve in this community.

So let us quiet our hearts and minds so we can give thanks to God, our Heavenly Father:

Blessed are You, Lord God of all creation.

In the presence of Your holy angels

We bless your Name forever.

Bless this temple that we have built to Your Holy Name.

Grant that this place may be a sanctuary of Your love,

and a house of prayer for all peoples.

Grant that we, Your children,

made in Your image and likeness,

may find Your tender mercy and

knowledge of Your salvation.

God of peace,

Grant that the people of this holy temple

may be a light to our city and our nation.

Fill our lives with good deeds.

That Your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

Lord, we ask that You bless and keep

the families of this congregation.

May we always love You

with all our heart and all our soul and all our might.

Be gracious to us, O Lord,

and make Your face shine upon us.

And grant us Your peace.
